A professor gave us an extra credit option: take a picture of yourself outside, doing something that you would not usually do. We were told not to take it too seriously. Here is my entry:

I maintain that sticking my head in the mailbox is not something I do on a regular basis.

Love that some of you are reblogging this. You looked at a picture of a guy with his head in a mailbox and went "yeah"

Can't wait to see if everyone did something like this or if they had a normal reaction. I will keep you posted.

Hello to everyone asking for an update!

The professor has said that he will put all submitted pictures into a powerpoint to be shown in class tomorrow (Tuesday, March 9th). I am very much looking forward to seeing the reaction from him and from the rest of the class. I promise to keep you informed.

Update: the professor saved my picture for last. I was told that I had "truly embodied the spirit of the assignment" and that I had gone "above and beyond."

Also, to everyone who is worrying about whether or not I got my head out, I was gifted with a very small head, and while I got out just fine I would NOT recommend this if you have a large head or even a normal sized head.

Ok so the thing about reading like books which are "predictable" is that I, a story enjoyer, go completely bonkers about it bc its like Enrichment in my Enclosure. A scene parallels another earlier scene between different characters thus serving to highlight the differences in their views and priorities???? A line makes me think "hmmm I bet that's gonna be relevant later" ends up being relevant later????? I am a tiger chewing ice cubes out of a pumpkin. I'm so so happy. Please foreshadow more things. Throw the completely anticipateable plot beats at me like catnip mousies!!!!!

kiss has to be one of the most disappointing bands ever. imagine hearing about this crazy rock band that dresses up in insane costumes and wears face paint and the one guy looks super demonic and has a really long tongue and everyone says they're satanic and then you listen to them and they're just singing about how they wanna bone but it's in a socially acceptable tongue in cheek way that your dad likes

[Image ID/ Screenshot of a tweet from Gorm @malaphorician that reads: The artist I most want to emulate with MidJourney is Tomm Moore, who made the animated movies The Secret of Kells, Song of the Sea, and Wolfwalkers. But I can’t figure out how to reference his style! Anyone have any advice? Is there a trick I don’t know about?”

Below is a direct reply from Tomm Moore @tommmore that reads: “Or you could learn to draw /End ID]

[Image ID/ Screenshot of three tweets from Tomm Moore @tommmoore that read: 1) someone posted that they wanted to help finding prompts to make a simulacrum of our FOLKLORE trilogy with MIDJOURNEY. To me this is literally the opposite of what we wanted to inspire in artists with our work. 2) the idea that our stuff is just a pretty picture to be copied as easily as possible is so depressing - we recommitted to handdrawn values, even when using technology we believed that the process was meditative, that the process infused something intangible 3) or almost intangible but of value to the viewer, our films are about many things but at the heart of why I wanted to create these films with my collaborators was a celebration of handdrawn animation and to find a way to spend our days  /End ID]
